Fun things to do near Montana Park in Pretoria this summer

There are many great reasons to call Montana Park in Pretoria your home. There is an array of affordable properties available for sale and to rent, and it’s close to a wide array of amenities. There’s also no shortage of fun things to do close to home. With the festive season and the long school holidays around the corner, the CSi Property Group has put together a list of fun things to do close to home for Montana Park residents.

K1 karting at Kolonnade Shopping Centre

K1 Karting offers go karting at its best, and thanks to the “arrive & drive” sessions on offer, you can just show up. There are also Grand Prix formats, endurance events, birthday party packages and corporate/team-building packages. It’s an indoor go-karting track, meaning that weather isn’t an issue. Being an indoor track also means that it’s tighter than most tracks, which adds more focus on manoeuvre and fun.

Montana Family Market

Whether you’re looking for retail therapy, an afternoon of family fun or just an opportunity to get out of the house, Montana Family Market is a great option. You’ll find a wide variety of stalls and goods, ranging from clothing, shoes and jewellery to services like haircuts and nail treatments. There’s a dedicated food zone as well as kid-friendly features like play parks and entertainment.

Wonderboom Nature Reserve

If you’d prefer to spend your free time outdoors, there are plenty of great places to go within a short drive of Montana Park. Wonderboom Nature Reserve is a great example, named in honour of a wild fig tree estimated to be about 1000 years old. The reserve offers walking/hiking trails of varying lengths, from a short look around the tree to longer routes that take you to the Fort Wonderboompoort viewpoint.

The reserve offers picnic spots, shady lawns and braai facilities in some areas. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to spot small antelope, monkeys and a variety of birdlife. In sort, Wonderboom Nature Reserve is an ideal spot for a relaxed outdoor outing. Don’t forget to take good walking shoes, water and sun protection.

Roodeplaat Nature Reserve

Visitors to Roodeplaat Nature Reserve can enjoy an array of activities, from water-based sports like angling, fishing, boating and canoeing to game viewing and birdwatching. There’s also a 7km interpretive hiking trail on the southern side, as well as picnicking and braai facilities. If you’re going to do some game driving, be aware that some of the roads are gravel and may require a higher clearance vehicle.

Given that it’s less than 15km from Montana Park, Roodeplaat Nature Reserve offers an ideal opportunity to get some fresh air and spend some time outdoors.

Pretoria National Botanical Garden

There are various factors which make the Pretoria National Botanical Garden more than just another pretty outdoor space. For starters, of the 76 hectares of the garden, about 50 hectares are developed using almost exclusively South African plants. There’s a paved nature trail that allows visitors to explore the natural grassland on the ridge area. Various themed gardens, including a succulent garden, cycad garden and medicinal/useful plants garden.

Whether you’re exploring the Gardens’ self-guided tree route, picnicking on the expansive lawns, bird watching or taking pics for your Instagram feed, you’re sure to have a great day out.

Montana Park offers much more than great things to do nearby. It’s an ideal home, close to amenities and filled with family-orientated spirit. Get in touch with the CSi Property Group if you’re interested in buying or renting a home here.
